SPORTS GROUNDS AND SPORTING EVENTS

The Sports Grounds and Football (Amendment of Various Orders) Order 1992

Made 30th June 1992
Laid before Parliament 7th July 1992
Coming into force 1st August 1992

    In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 9(3) of the Sporting Events (Control of Alcohol etc.) Act 1985[1], sections 1(2) and 14(2) of the Football Spectators Act 1989[2] and section 1(1) of the Football (Offences) Act 1991[3], I hereby make the following Order:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Sports Grounds and Football (Amendment of Various Orders) Order 1992 and shall come into force on 1st August 1992.
        2.—(1)  The Orders specified in paragraph (2) below shall be amended, in the places specified, in each case by inserting after the words "Football League" the words "or the Football Association Premier League".

        (2)  The Orders, and the places in them, referred to in paragraph (1) above, are—
       (a) the Sports Grounds and Sporting Events (Designation) Order 1985[4], in paragraph 1 of Part I of Schedule 2 and paragraph 1 of Part III of that Schedule;
       (b) the Football Spectators (Designation of Football Matches in England and Wales) Order 1990[5], in article 2(2)(a)(i);
       (c) the Football Spectators (Designation of Football Matches outside England and Wales) Order 1990[6], in article 2(3)(b); and
       (d) the Football (Offences) (Designation of Football Matches) Order 1991[7], in article 2(2)(a)(i).

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order amends various Orders by which football matches and sports grounds are designated for the purposes of the Sporting Events (Control of Alcohol etc.) Act 1985, the Football Spectators Act 1989 and the Football (Offences) Act 1991. Each amendment merely extends an existing designation to take account of the new Football Association Premier League.
