ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

The Financial Assistance for Environmental Purposes (England and Wales) Order 1992

Made 6th March 1992
Laid before Parliament 11th March 1992
Coming into force 1st April 1992

    The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 153(4) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990[1], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
    Citation and commencement
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Financial Assistance for Environmental Purposes (England and Wales) Order 1992 and shall come into force on 1st April 1992.
    Variation of section 153(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990
        2.    In section 153(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 (purposes for which financial assistance may be given) there shall be inserted at the end:
        "(p) the programme known as the Environment Wales programme so far as it relates to the protection, improvement or better understanding of the environment of, or of any part of, Wales."

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order varies section 153(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 to enable the Secretary of State, with the consent of the Treasury, to give financial assistance to or for the purposes of the Environment Wales initiative so far as its activities relate to the protection, improvement or better understanding of the environment.
