CUSTOMS AND EXCISE

The Export of Goods (Control) (Amendment) Order 1992

Made 6th March 1992
Coming into force 9th March 1992

    The Secretary of State, in exercise of powers conferred by section 1 of the Import, Export and Customs Powers (Defence) Act 1939[1] and now vested in him[2], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Export of Goods (Control) (Amendment) Order 1992 and shall come into force on 9th March 1992.
        2.    The Export of Goods (Control) Order 1991[3] shall be amended as follows—
       (a) for head (c) in entry PL 5001 in Group 1 in Part II of Schedule 1, there shall be substituted the following—
          "(c) Leg-irons, shackles (excluding any pair of handcuffs the maximum dimension of which when locked does not exceed 240mm) and gangchains, specially designed for restraining human beings..........C" ; and
       (b) in Schedule 2—
         (i) after "Albania" there shall be inserted—

            "Armenia
            Azerbaijan
            Belarus" ;
         (ii) for "Czech and Slovak Republic" there shall be substituted—

            "Czech and Slovak Federal Republic
            Estonia
            Georgia" ;
         (iii) after "Hungary" there shall be inserted—

            "Kazakhstan
            Kirgizstan
            Latvia
            Lithuania
            Moldova" ;
         (iv) after "Romania" there shall be inserted—
    "Russian Federation"; and
       (v) for "Union of Soviet Socialist Republics" there shall be substituted—

          "Tajikistan
          Turkmenistan
          Ukraine
          Uzbekistan" .

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order amends the Export of Goods (Control) Order 1991
      (i) by bringing under control certain handcuffs; and
      (ii) by replacing the reference in Schedule 2 to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics by references to those countries which previously formed that country.
