LANDLORD AND TENANT, ENGLAND AND WALES

The Assured and Protected Tenancies (Lettings to Students) (Amendment) Regulations 1992

Laid before Parliament 9th March 1992
Coming into force 30th March 1992

    In exercise of the power conferred on the Secretary of State by paragraph 8 of Schedule 1 to the Housing Act 1988[1], the Secretary of State for Education and Science, as respects England, and the Secretary of State for Wales, as respects Wales, hereby make the following Regulations:
        1.    These Regulations may be cited as the Assured and Protected Tenancies (Lettings to Students) (Amendment) Regulations 1992 and shall come into force on 30th March 1992.
        2.    The Assured and Protected Tenancies (Lettings to Students) Regulations 1988[2] shall be further amended by the substitution for Schedule 2 of the following Schedule-
      SCHEDULE 2
      SPECIFIED BODIES UNDER REGULATION 4A

      "AFSIL Limited

        Brighton Polytechnic Housing Association Limited

        International Lutheran Student Centre

        St Brigid's House Limited

        The London Hospital Special Trustees

        The London Mission (West London) Circuit Meeting of the Methodist Church

        The London School of Economics Housing Association

        International House Association Trust

        International Students Club (Church of England) Limited

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
    These Regulations amend the Assured and Protected Tenancies (Lettings to Students) Regulations 1988 by substituting a new Schedule 2. Four further bodies are specified under paragraph 8 of Schedule 1 to the Housing Act 1988: International Lutheran Student Centre, St Brigid's House Limited, International Students Club (Church of England) Limited, and International House Association Trust.
    A tenancy granted by such a body to a student at an educational institution specified in the 1988 Regulations is not an assured tenancy for the purposes of the 1988 Act.
