ROADS AND BRIDGES, SCOTLAND

The Erskine Bridge Tolls Order 1992

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 2 and 15(1) of the Erskine Bridge Tolls Act 1968^[1] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and having complied with the provisions of section 3 of the said Act, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement
    1.    This Order may be cited as the Erskine Bridge Tolls Order 1992 and shall come into force on 1st April 1992.

Interpretation
    2.    In this Order, unless the context otherwise requires, the following expressions have the following meanings:—
"the Act" means the Erskine Bridge Tolls Act 1968;


"the 1989 Order" means the Erskine Bridge Tolls Order 1989^[2];


"the specified roads" has the meaning given in section 1(3) of the Act;


"Class I", "Class II" and "Class IV" have the meanings respectively given in Schedule 3 to the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984^[3].

Vehicles in respect of which tolls are to be levied
    3.    Subject to article 6 of this Order, every vehicle of Class I, Class II or Class IV using any part of the specified roads shall be a vehicle in respect of which a toll is to be levied under the Act.

Amount of toll
    4.    Subject to article 5 hereof, the toll to be levied for each occasion on which any vehicle described in article 3 hereof uses any part of the specified roads shall be 60p.

Compounding in advance for payment of tolls
    5.—(1)  Any person may compound in advance for the payment of tolls levied under the Act by purchasing a minimum of 50 (or multiples thereof) prepaid vouchers at the rate specified in article 5(2) hereof.

    (2)  Each prepaid voucher shall be in respect of one occasion that a toll is leviable in terms of article 4 hereof and shall cost 10% less than that toll.

Vehicles exempt from payment of tolls
    6.    Any vehicle of any of the descriptions specified in the Schedule to this Order, which would otherwise be a vehicle in respect of which a toll is to be levied as set out in article 3 above, shall be exempted from the payment of toll.

Revocation
    7.    The 1989 Order is hereby revoked.
