NEW TOWNS

The New Town (Glenrothes) Winding Up Order 1992

Made 24th February 1992
Coming into force 1st March 1992

    The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 36(1) and (3) of the New Towns (Scotland) Act 1968[1], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, after consultation, in accordance with section 36(2) of the said Act, with the development corporation to which the order relates and the council of the region and of each district in which each part of the new town is situated and such other persons or bodies as he thinks appropriate, hereby makes the following Order:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the New Town (Glenrothes) Winding Up Order 1992 and shall come into force on 1st March 1992.
        2.    In this Order, "development corporation" means the Glenrothes Development Corp oration established by the New Town (Glenrothes) Development Corporation Order 1948[2].
        3.    The development corporation shall be wound up and the winding up shall—
       (a) commence on 1st March 1992; and
       (b) be completed by 31st December 1995.
        4.    The development corporation shall make an interim report to the Secretary of State on the progress of the winding up for the period from 1st March 1992 to 31st March 1993 and thereafter for the annual period to 31st March in each subsequent year, and shall submit any such report to the Secretary of State by 30th June in each year.
        5.    The development corporation shall comply with any directions made by the Secretary of State under section 36C of the New Towns (Scotland) Act 1968[3].

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order provides for the winding up of the Glenrothes Development Corporation and sets the date (1st March 1992) for the commencement of the winding up and the date (31st December 1995) by which the winding up is to be completed. The development corporation has to make interim reports on the progress of the winding up and comply with any directions made by the Secretary of State.
