The Suckler Cow Premium (Amendment) Regulations 1992

    The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the Secretaries of State concerned with agriculture in Wales and Scotland, with the consent of the Treasury, acting jointly, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 3 of the Agriculture and Forestry (Financial Provisions) Act 1991[1] and the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the Secretary of State, being Ministers designated[2] for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972[3] in relation to the common agricultural policyof the European Economic Community, acting jointly in exercise of the powers conferred on them by the said section 2(2) and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Regulations:—
    Title, extent, commencement and interpretation
        1.—(1)  These Regulations may be cited as the Suckler Cow Premium (Amendment) Regulations 1992, shall apply in Great Britain and shall come into force on 18th February 1992.

        (2)  In these Regulations "the principal Regulations" means the Suckler Cow Premium Regulations 1991[3].
    Amendment of the principal Regulations
        2.    The principal Regulations shall be amended in accordance with regulations 3 and 4 of these Regulations.
        3.    In regulation 5(1)(b) of the principal Regulations for the word "at" there shall be substituted the word "on".
        4.    In paragraph 1 of the Schedule to the principal Regulations—
       (a) in the definition of "the higher rate" for the amount "£51·69" there shall be substituted the amount "£59·64";
       (b) in the definition of "the lower rate" for the amount "£47·43" there shall be substituted the amount "£55·38".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
    These Regulations amend the Suckler Cow Premium Regulations 1991 ("the principal Regulations") and come into force on 18th February 1992.
    Under Council Regulation (EEC) No. 3605/91 (OJ No. L 343, 13.12.91, p.7), for applications for the suckler cow premium lodged in the period 15th June 1991 to31st January 1992, the amount of the premium which is financed by the Guarantee Section of the European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund and the maximum amount which Member States are authorised to pay by way of additional premium have been increased. These Regulations increase the amount of additional premium specified in the Schedule to the principal Regulations and the opportunity is taken to rectify a drafting error contained in regulation 5(1)(b) of the principal Regulations.
