ROAD TRAFFIC

The Goods Vehicles (Operators' Licences)(Temporary Use in Great Britain) (Amendment) Regulations 1991

Laid before Parliament 10th December 1991
Coming into force 1st January 1992

    The Secretary of State for Transport in exercise of the powers conferred by section 91(1) (4) and (5) of the Transport Act 1968([1] ), and now vested in him[2], and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with representative organisations in accordance with section 91(8) of that Act, hereby makes the following regulations:-
        1.    These Regulations may be cited as the Goods Vehicles (Operators' Licences) (Temporary Use in Great Britain) (Amendment) Regulations 1991 and shall come into force on 1st January 1992.
        2.    The Goods Vehicles (Operators' Licences) (Temporary Use in Great Britain)Regulations 1980[3] shall be amended-
       (a) in regulation 11 (Exemptions and modification for Czechoslovak goods vehicles) by the substitution-
         (i) in paragraph (1)(a) of the words "Czech and Slovak Federal Republic" for the words "the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic"; and
         (ii) for paragraphs (2) and (3) of the following paragraph-
          "  (2)  Section 60(1) of the Act shall not apply to the use in Great Britain of a Czechoslovak goods vehicle for the carriage of any goods."
       (b) in regulation 18 (Exemptions and modifications for Hungarian goods vehicles) by the substitution-
         (i) in paragraph (1)(a) of the words "the Republic of Hungary" for the words "the Hungarian People's Republic"; and
         (ii) for paragraphs (2) to (4) of the following paragraph:-
          "  (2)  Section 60(1) of the Act shall not apply to the use in Great Britain of an Hungarian goods vehicle for the carriage of any goods." ; and
       (c) in regulation 27 (Exemptions and modifications for Portuguese goods vehicle) by the substitution for paragraphs (2) to (4) of the following paragraph:-
        "  (2)  Section 60(1) of the Act shall not apply to the use in Great Britain of a Portuguese goods vehicle for the carriage of any goods."

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
    These Regulations amend the Goods Vehicles (Operators' Licences)(Temporary Use in Great Britain)Regulations 1980. Regulation 2 amends regulations 11, 18 and 27 of the 1980 Regulations by abolishing the requirements for permits for goods vehicles from the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic, the Republic of Hungary and the Republic of Portugal to circulate in Great Britain.
