NORTHERN IRELAND

The Statistics (Confidentiality) (Northern Ireland) Order 1991

Made 24th July 1991
Coming into operation 25th September 1991

At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 24th day of July 1991

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

    Whereas a draft of this Order has been approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament:
    Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 1 of Schedule 1 to the 1974 c. 28Northern Ireland Act 1974 and of all other powers enabling Her in that behalf, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—
    Title and commencement
        1.—(1)  This Order may be cited as the Statistics (Confidentiality) (Northern Ireland) Order 1991.

        (2)  This Order shall come into operation on the expiration of 2 months from the day on which it is made.
    Interpretation
        2.    The 1954 c. 33 (N.I.)Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954 shall apply to Article 1 and the following provisions of this Order as it applies to a Measure of the Northern Ireland Assembly.
    Disclosure of information
        3.—(1)  In section 1(4) of the 1939 c. 35 (N.I.)Agricultural Returns Act (Northern Ireland) 1939 (restriction on disclosure of information), after paragraph (a) there shall be inserted—
        "(aa) for the purposes of the provision of any services to the Department of Agriculture or the Department of Economic Development;" .


        (2)  In Article 7(1) of the 1988 NI 3Statistics of Trade and Employment(Northern Ireland) Order 1988 (restriction on disclosure of information), after sub-paragraph (a)(iv) there shall be inserted—
        "(v) to any person who provides, or is employed in the provision of, services to that Northern Ireland department;" .

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order permits estimates, returns or information obtained under the Agricultural Returns Act (Northern Ireland) 1939 and Statistics of Trade and Employment (Northern Ireland) Order 1988 to be disclosed to a supplier of any services to the relevant Northern Ireland department.
