NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE, ENGLAND AND WALES

The Leeds General Infirmary and Associated Hospitals National Health Service Trust (Change of Name) Order 1991

Made 11th July 1991
Coming into force 1st August 1991

    The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of powers conferred by section 126(4) of the National Health Service Act 1977[1] and section 5(1) of the National Health Service and Community Care Act 1990[2] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
    Citation, commencement and interpretation
        1.—(1)  This Order may be cited as the Leeds General Infirmary and Associated Hospitals National Health Service Trust (Change of Name) Order 1991 and shall come into force on 1st August 1991.

        (2)  In this Order unless the context otherwise requires—
      "the Order" means the Leeds General Infirmary and Associated Hospitals National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Order 1990[3]; and

      "the trust" means the NHS trust established by the Order.

    Change of Name of NHS Trust
        2.    The trust shall be called the United Leeds Teaching Hospitals National Health Service Trust instead of Leeds General Infirmary and Associated Hospitals National Health Service Trust and accordingly—
       (a) in article 1 of the Order, in the definition of "the trust", for the words from "The Leeds" to "Trust" there shall be substituted the words "the NHS trust" and
       (b) in article 2 of the Order for the words after from "the Leeds" to the word "Associated" there shall be substituted the words "the United Leeds Teaching".
    Transitional Provisions
        3.    The change of name under this Order shall not—
       (a) affect any right or obligation of any person;
       (b) be taken as invalidating any instrument (whether made before, on or after the day on which this Order comes into force) which refers to the trust by its previous name,
    and all documents and instruments which refer to the trust under its previous name shall be construed as referring to it under its new name.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order changes the name of an NHS Trust established by Order under Part I of the National Health Service and Community Care Act 1990 from the Leeds General Infirmary and Associated Hospitals National Health Service Trust to the United Leeds Teaching Hospitals National Health Service Trust and makes consequential amendments to the Order.
