UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES

The Education (University Commissioners) Order 1991

Made 21st June 1991
Laid before Parliament 5th July 1991
Coming into force 26th July 1991

    In exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 3(2)(b) of Schedule 11 to the Education Reform Act[1], the Secretary of State for Education and Science hereby makes the following Order:
    Citation and commencement
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Education (University Commissioners) Order 1991 and shall come into force on 26th July 1991.
    Continuation of duties and powers
        2.    The University Commissioners' duties and powers shall continue for the period from 29th July 1991 until 31st December 1992.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order continues the University Commissioners' powers and duties until 31st December 1992. By virtue of paragraph 3(1) of Schedule 11 to the Education Reform Act 1988, their powers and duties would otherwise have ceased on 29th July 1991, three years after section 202 of the Act came into force ; by virtue of section 236, section 202 came into force on the passing of the Act on 29th July 1988.
