The Naval Medical Compassionate Fund (Amendment) Order 1991

Made 16th April 1991
Coming into force 8th May 1991

    At the Court at Windsor Castle the 16th day of April 1991 Present, The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council Her Majesty, in pursuance of section 1 of the Naval Medical Compassionate Fund Act 1915[1] , is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:
    Citation and commencement
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Naval Medical Compassionate Fund (Amendment) Order 1991 and shall come into force on 8th May 1991.
    Amendments to Standing Orders and Regulations
        2.    The Order in Council dated 28th July 1915[2] , whereby Standing Orders and Regulations for the constitution and government of the Naval Medical Compassionate Fund were approved, shall be further amended as follows.
        3.    In article 1—
       (a) for the words"six Directors" there shall be substituted"two Directors (elected in accordance with article 4)" ; and
       (b) the words"or of the Directors mentioned in Article 3 hereof" shall be omitted.
        4.    Article 3 shall be omitted.
        5.    For article 4 there shall be substituted the following article—
            "4.    The Members of the Fund shall annually elect from among their numbers two Directors at a meeting to be held for that purpose. The time and place of the meeting shall be fixed by the Court of Directors and announced in such manner as it shall think fit."
        6.    In article 5, for the word"clause" , there shall be substituted"article" .
        7.    In article 6—
       (a) for the words"in the months of January, April, July and October" there shall be substituted"twice in that year on such dates as the Court of Directors shall determine" ;
       (b) for the words"31st October" there shall be substituted"31st December" ; and
       (c) for the word"Clause" , there shall be substituted"article" .
        8.    Article 10 shall be omitted.
        9.    In article 11—
       (a) for the words"The Honorary Secretary shall" there shall be substituted"The Honorary Treasurer and the Honorary Secretary shall each" ;
       (b) for the words"shall be reimbursed" there shall be substituted"shall each be reimbursed" ; and
       (c) for the words"him in performing the duties of his office" there shall be substituted"each of them respectively in performing the duties of their respective offices" .
        10.    In article 12, the words"continue to" ,"as at present" and"at the January meeting in" shall each be omitted.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note does not form part of the Order)
    This Order amends the Standing Orders and Regulations of the Naval Medical Compassionate Fund. It provides for—
      (a) the omission of obsolete or spent provisions;
      (b) a reduction in the number of Directors (article 3);
      (c) the election of Directors (article 5);
      (d) minor amendments to the distribution of monies (article 7);
      (e) minor amendments to the appointment and reimbursement of the Honorary Treasurer (article 9); and
      (f) minor amendments to the production of a Balance Sheet (article 10).
