NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE, ENGLAND AND WALES

The Regional and District Health Authorities (Membership and Procedure) Amendment Regulations 1991

Coming into force 1st April 1991

    The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of powers conferred by section 128(1) of the National Health Service Act 1977[1] and paragraph 2(3) of Schedule 1 to the National Health Service and Community Care Act 1990[2] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
    Citation and commencement
        1.    These Regulations may be cited as the Regional and District Health Authorities (Membership and Procedure) Amendment Regulations 1991 and come into force on 1st April 1991.
    University non-officer members for District Health Authorities
        2.    The Regional and District Health Authorities (Membership and Procedure) Regulations 1990[3] are amended by the substitution in Part I of Schedule 1—
       (a) for the entries "Leeds Eastern Health Authority" and "Leeds Western Health Authority" of the entry "Leeds Health Authority";
       (b) for the entry "Central Birmingham Health Authority" of the entry "South Birmingham Health Authority".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
    These Regulations amend Part I of Schedule 1 to the Regional and District Health Authorities (Membership and Procedure) Regulations 1990 which list District Health Authorities in England which are to have at least one non-officer member who holds a post in a university with a medical or dental school.
    In consequence of the abolition of Leeds Eastern and Leeds Western Health Authorities and the establishment of a new Leeds Health Authority, "Leeds Health Authority" replaces the former entriess "Leeds Eastern Health Authority" and "Leeds Western Health Authority".
    In consequence of the abolition of Central Birmingham Health Authority and the establishment of a new South Birmingham Health Authority, "South Birmingham Health Authority" replaces the former entry "Central Birmingham Health Authority".
