HARBOURS, DOCKS, PIERS AND FERRIES

The Whitehaven Harbour Revision Order 1991

Made 7th February 1991
Coming into force 8th February 1991

Whereas the making of this Order is not opposed:

    Now therefore the Secretary of State for Transport (being the appropriate Minister under section 14(7) of the Harbours Act 1964[1] for the purpose of making this Order) in exercise of the powers conferred by the said section 14 and now vested in him[2]and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and on the application of the Whitehaven Harbour Commissioners, hereby make the following Order:-
    Citation and commencement
        1.—(1)  This Order may be cited as the Whitehaven Harbour Revision Order 1991 and shall come into force on 8th February 1991.

        (2)  The Whitehaven Town and Harbour Acts and Order 1708 to 1981 and this Order may be cited together as the Whitehaven Town and Harbour Acts and Orders 1708 to 1991.
    Amendment of article 13 of Scheme of 1894
        2.    Paragraph (a) of article 13 of the Borough and Harbour of Whitehaven Scheme 1894[3](which precludes any woman being appointed or elected as a Harbour Commissioner) shall cease to have effect.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order removes the restriction contained in a Scheme of 1894 upon women being appointed or elected as Commissioners of Whitehaven Harbour.
