POLICE

The Police (Amendment No. 4) Regulations 1990

Made 20th December 1990
Laid before Parliament 8th January 1991
Coming into force 1st February 1991

    In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 33 of the Police Act 1964[1], and after taking into consideration the recommendations made by the Police Negotiating Board for the United Kingdom and furnishing the said Board with a draft of the Regulations in accordance with section 2(1) of the Police Negotiating Board Act 1980[2], I hereby make the following Regulations:
        1.    These Regulations may be cited as the Police (Amendment No. 4) Regulations 1990.
        2.    These Regulations shall come into force on 1st February 1991 and shall have effect for the purposes of regulation 3(3) and (4) as from 1st September 1990.
        3.—(1)  The Police Regulations 1987[3] shall be amended in accordance with the following provisions of this regulation.

        (2)  In regulation 38 (temporary salary) there shall be inserted after paragraph (3) the following paragraph—
      "  (3A)  Where a member of a police force—
        (a) on his last scheduled working day in any year is required to perform duties normally performed by a member of the force of a higher rank than his own, and
        (b) is paid in respect of that day temporary salary under paragraph (3), and
        (c) on his first scheduled working day of the next following year continues for the complete day to perform such duties,
      he shall be paid, in respect of the day mentioned in sub-paragraph (c) and any following complete day which together therewith forms a continuous period when he is required to perform such duties, as if that day or days had formed part of the year mentioned in sub-paragraph (a):" .

        Provided that the said day or days shall be disregarded for the purposes of the application of paragraph (3) to that member in the year mentioned in sub-paragraph (c)." .


        (3)  In Schedule 5 (scales of pay) for tables A and B there shall be substituted respectively the tables set out in the Appendix to these Regulations.

        (4)  In paragraph 1 of Schedule 11 (dog handler's allowance) for the words "£723" in sub-paragraph (a) there shall be substituted the words "£792" and for the words "£987" in sub-paragraph (b) there shall be substituted the words "£1,083".
