Her Majesty, in pursuance of section 8(2) and (3) of the Coinage Act 1971[1] and of all other powers enabling Her in that behalf, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows: - Citation and commencement 1. This Order may be cited as the Trial of the Pyx (Amendment) Order 1990 and shall come into force on 8th June 1990. Amendment of the principal Order 2. The Trial of the Pyx Order 1975[2] shall be amended - (1) by inserting in article 2(1) (Interpretation) before the definition of "the Goldsmiths' Company" the following -
(2) by deleting sub-paragraphs (d) and (e) of article 3(1) and the proviso thereto and substituting the following: -
(ii) one coin out of every 20,000 cupro-nickel coins of a denomination of more than ten pence ready for issue;
(This note is not part of the Order) This Order amends the Trial of the Pyx Order 1975 by inserting a definition of "coins ready for issue". It also amends article 3(1) of that Order to provide that the sample of cupro-nickel coins to be provided for the Trial of the Pyx shall be one coin out of every 5,000 coins of a denomination of more than ten pence ready for issue,and one coin out of every 20,000 coins of a denomination of ten pence or less unless the total number of cupro-nickel coins subject to trial in any year is less than 250 million, in which case the sample is to be one coin out of every 5,000 ready for issue, irrespective of denomination.
