ELECTRICITY

The Electricity Act 1989 (Nominated Companies) (England and Wales) Order 1990

Made 7th February 1990

    The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 65(2) and 66(3) of the Electricity Act 1989[1], and of all other enabling powers, after consultation in accordance with those sections, and with the consent of the Treasury, hereby makes the following Order:—
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Electricity Act 1989 (Nominated Companies) (England and Wales) Order 1990.
        2.    In this Order, "the Act" means the Electricity Act 1989.
        3.    Each company whose name appears in column 1 of a numbered item in Schedule 1 to this Order and whose registered number appears in column 2 of that item is nominated for the purposes of section 65(1) of the Act in relation to the Area Board whose name appears in column 3 of the item.
        4.—(1)  The companies whose names and registered numbers appear in Part I of Schedule 2 to this Order are nominated for the purposes of section 66(1) of the Act.

        (2)  Of those companies, National Power PLC and PowerGen plc are designated pursuant to section 66(1) of the Act as generating companies and The National Grid Company plc is designated as the transmission company.
        5.    The companies whose names and registered numbers appear in Part II of Schedule 2 to this Order are nominated for the purposes of section 66(2) of the Act.
