NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE, ENGLAND AND WALES

The Health and Medicines Act 1988 (Commencement No.7) Order 1989

Made 14th October 1989

    In exercise of powers conferred by section 26(1) of the Health and Medicines Act 1988[1] and of all other powers enabling me in that behalf, I hereby make the following Order:
    Citation
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Health and Medicines Act 1988 (Commencement No.7) Order 1989.
    Appointed day
        2.    15th October is the day appointed for the coming into force of the following provisions of the Health and Medicines Act 1988:—
       (a) in section 8 (retirement of practitioners)—
         (i) paragraph (a) in subsection (1) except for the words "or section 19 of the National Health Service (Scotland) Act 1978"[2] ;
         (ii) the words "(a) or" in subsection (2) except so far as they have effect for the purposes of any list maintained under section 19 of the National Health Service (Scotland) Act 1978;
       (b) section 25(1) (consequential amendments) so far as it relates to paragraph 3 of Schedule 2, and to paragraph 1 of that Schedule to the extent that it has effect for the purposes of that paragraph.
