NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE, ENGLAND AND WALES

The National Health Service (General Dental Services) Amendment Regulations 1989

Made 6th April 1989
Laid before Parliament 10th April 1989
Coming into force 1st May 1989

    The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of powers conferred by sections 35(1) and (4), 36(1) and 126(4) of the National Health Service Act 1977[1] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
    Citation and commencement
        1.    These Regulations may be cited as the National Health Service (General Dental Services) Amendment Regulations 1989 and shall come into force on 1st May 1989.
    Amendment of Regulations
        2.    Regulation 26D of the National Health Service (General Dental Services) Regulations 1973[2] (amount and time of payments in consequence of suspension) shall be amended as follows:-
       (a) in paragraph (1)(a)(i) for "£1935" there shall be substituted "£2,243" ;
       (b) in paragraph (1)(a)(ii) for "£967" there shall be substituted "£1,121" ;
       (c) in paragraph (1)(b)(i) for "£967" there shall be substituted "£1,121" ;
       (d) in paragraph (1)(b)(ii) for "£1935" there shall be substituted "£2,243" ; and
       (e) in paragraph (2) for "£107,103" in both places where it occurs there shall be substituted "£117,689" .

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
    These Regulations amend the National Health Service (General Dental Services) Regulations 1973, which provide for the arrangements under which dentists provide general dental services under the National Health Service in England and Wales.
    These Regulations increase the amounts of, and amounts used in calculating, payments to dentists during periods of suspension of their registration under the Dentists Act 1984 by an interim suspension order or a direction or order of the Health Committee.
