URBAN DEVELOPMENT

The Bristol Development Corporation (Area and Constitution) Order 1988

    The Secretary of State for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 134 and 135 of, and paragraph 1 of Schedule 26 to, the Local Government, Planning and Land Act 1980[1] , and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
    Citation and commencement
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Bristol Development Corporation (Area and Constitution) Order 1988 and shall come into force on the day after the day on which it is approved by resolution of each House of Parliament.
    Interpretation
        2.    In this Order, "the map" means the map entitled "Map referred to in the Bristol Development Corporation (Area and Constitution) Order 1988", of which prints signed by an Under Secretary in the Department of the Environment, are deposited and available for inspection at the offices of the Secretary of State for the Environment and the offices of the councils of the county of Avon and the city of Bristol.
    Designation of urban development area
        3.    The area shown on the map bounded externally by a black line edged internally with a stippled band is hereby designated as an urban development area.
    Establishment of the Bristol Development Corporation
        4.    For the purposes of regenerating the designated area there is hereby established an urban development corporation named "The Bristol Development Corporation" with eight members in addition to the chairman and deputy chairman.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

    This Order designates an area totalling about 420 hectares in the city of Bristol, within the county of Avon, as an urban development area and establishes an urban development corporation to regenerate the area. The area is shown hatched black on the map forming part of this note.
    The development corporation is to be called the Bristol Development Corporation, and have 8 members beside the chairman and deputy chairman.
