LAND REGISTRATION, ENGLAND AND WALES

The Registration of Title (No. 2) Order 1988

Made 26th October 1988
Coming into force 1st February 1989

At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 26th day of October 1988

Present,

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

    Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 120(1) and (6) of the Land Registration Act 1925[1] and sections 80(2) and 90 of the London Government Act 1963[2] , is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order and declare, and it is hereby ordered and declared, as follows:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Registration of Title (No. 2) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 1st February 1989.
        2.—(1)  In addition to the areas mentioned in column 2 of the Schedule to the Registration of Title Order 1988[3] (being the areas in England and Wales in which registration of title to land is already compulsory on sale) registration of title shall be compulsory on sale,
       (a) on and after 1st February 1989 in the districts of East Lindsey and West Lindsey, and
       (b) on and after 1st December 1989 in the districts of Alnwick, Berwick-upon-Tweed, Boston, Breckland, Broadland, King's Lynn and West Norfolk, Mendip, North Kesteven, North Norfolk, Sedgemoor, South Holland, South Kesteven, South Norfolk, South Somerset and Tynedale.

        (2)  Accordingly, on and after 1st December 1989, registration of title to land shall be compulsory on sale in the areas mentioned in column 2 of the Schedule to this Order.
        3.    As from 1st December 1989 the Registration of Title Order 1988 shall cease to have effect.
