MERCHANT SHIPPING

The Merchant Shipping Act 1979 (Guernsey) Order 1988

Made 26th October 1988
Laid before Parliament 3rd November 1988
Coming into force 1st January 1989

At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 26th day of October 1988

Present,

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

    Her Majesty, in pursuance of section 47 of the Merchant Shipping Act 1979[1] , is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Merchant Shipping Act 1979 (Guernsey) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 1st January 1989.
        2.    Section 31(1) of the Merchant Shipping Act 1979 shall extend to the Bailiwick of Guernsey and the territorial waters adjacent thereto as part of its law with the following modifications, that is to say—
       (a) for the words "Secretary of State" in both places where they occur there shall be substituted the words "States Board of Administration" ;
       (b) the words "made by statutory instrument" shall be omitted; and
       (c) all the words from "and any statutory instrument" to the end shall be omitted.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order extends to the Bailiwick of Guernsey section 31(1) of the Merchant Shipping Act 1979. That provision amends section 85 of the Merchant Shipping Act 1894 (c. 60) (which relates to dues for space occupied by deck cargo) by substituting a newsubsection (3).
