ROAD TRAFFIC

The A3 Trunk Road (Roehampton Vale, Wandsworth) (Prescribed Routes) Order 1988

Made 1st September 1988
Coming into force on the date specified in article 1 below

    The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984[1] , and of all other enabling powers, and after consulting the Secretary of State for the Home Department, hereby makes the following Order:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the A3 Trunk Road (Roehampton Vale, Wandsworth) (Prescribed Routes) Order 1988 and shall come into force on the date when the construction of the central reservation in Roehampton Vale between Numbers 10 and 114 Roehampton Vale has been completed.
        2.    In this Order—

    "Roehampton Vale" means that length of the London—Portsmouth Trunk Road (A3) (hereinafter called "the trunk road" ) in the London Borough of Wandsworth known as Roehampton Vale;

    "the southwestbound exit slip road" means that length of road which links the southwestbound carriageway of the trunk road with Stag Lane;

    "the southwestbound access slip road" means that length of road which links Stag Lane with the southwestbound carriageway of the trunk road;

    "the northeastbound access slip road" means that length of road which links the northeastbound carriageway of the trunk road with the un-named road leading to Stag Lane;

    "the northeastbound exit slip road" means that length of road which links the un-named road leading from Stag Lane with the northeastbound carriageway of the trunk road; and

    "central reservation" means that part of the trunk road which separates the two carriageways of the trunk road for the safety and guidance of vehicles using that road.
        3.    No person shall cause or permit any vehicle proceeding in the trunk road to make a `U'-turn so as to proceed in the opposite direction to that in which it was proceeding—
       (a) at the northeastern end of the central reservation, being a point opposite the junction of Norstead Place with the trunk road; and
       (b) at the southwestern end of the central reservation, being a point 30 metres southwest of the southwestern boundary of Number 114 Roehampton Vale.
        4.    No person shall cause or permit any vehicle proceeding in the trunk road to make a right turn so as to enter Stag Lane.
        5.    No person causing or permitting a vehicle to proceed in a road specified in column 1 of the Schedule to this Order shall cause or permit that vehicle to proceed in any direction other than the direction specified in column 2 of that Schedule.
        6.    Nothing in this Order shall apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or of a traffic warden.
