The Local Government Finance Act 1988 Commencement (Scotland) Order 1988

Made 11th August 1988

    The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections 143(1) and (2) and 150 of the Local Government Finance Act 1988 [1] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Local Government Finance Act 1988 Commencement (Scotland) Order 1988.
        2.    In this Order—
      "the Act" means the Local Government Finance Act 1988;

      "the 1987 Act" means the Abolition of Domestic Rates Etc. (Scotland) Act 1987 [2],

    and any expression used in this Order which is also used in the 1987 Act shall have the same meaning in this Order as it has in that Act.
        3.    The provisions of the Act which are specified in column 1 of Schedule 1 to this Order shall come into force on 22nd August 1988 but, where a particular purpose is specified in relation to any provision in column 2 of that Schedule, that provision shall come into force on that day only for that purpose.
        4.    The provisions of the Act which are specified in Schedule 2 to this Order shall come into force on 15th September 1988.
        5.    The provisions of the Act which are specified in Schedule 3 to this Order shall come into force on 1st October 1988.
        6.    The provisions of the Act which are specified in Schedule 4 to this Order shall, insofar as they are not then in force, come into force on 1st April 1989.
        7.    The provisions of the Act which are specified in Schedule 5 to this Order shall come into force on 1st April 1990.
