BETTING, GAMING AND LOTTERIES

The Gaming (Small Charges) (Amendment) Order 1988

Made 13th June 1988
Laid before Parliament 20th June 1988
Coming into force 18th July 1988

    In pursuance of sections 40(2) and 51(4) of the Gaming Act 1968[1] , I hereby make the following Order:
        1.—(1)  This Order may be cited as the Gaming (Small Charges) (Amendment) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 18th July 1988.

        (2)  This Order does not extend to Scotland.
        2.    Article 3(b) of the Gaming (Small Charges) Order 1975[2] shall be amended by substituting for the words "the sum of 25p" the words "the sum of 30p" .
        3.    The Gaming (Small Charges) (Amendment) Order 1984[3] is hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order increases the maximum daily charge which may be made in clubs and miners' welfare institutes in England and Wales in respect of a person taking part in games of equal chance, except where the only games played are bridge and whist.
