ROAD TRAFFIC

The A2 Trunk Road (Rochester Way Relief Road, Greenwich and Bexley) (Speed Limits) Order 1988

Made 17th May 1988
Coming into force 20th May 1988

    The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 82(2), 83(1), 84(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984[1], and of all other enabling powers, hereby makes the following Order:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the A2 Trunk Road (Rochester Way Relief Road, Greenwich and Bexley) (Speed Limits) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 20th May 1988.
        2.—(1)  In this Order:
      "main route" means that length of road known as the Rochester Way Relief Road in the London Borough of Greenwich which lies between a point 35 metres northwest of the northwestern kerbline of Westbrook Road and a point 35 metres east of the centre line of Crown Woods Way, a distance of approximately 5.6 kilometres;
      "Shooters Hill Road northwestbound exit slip road" means that length of road which links the northwestbound carriageway of the main route with the roundabout at Shooters Hill Road;
      "Shooters Hill Road southeastbound access slip road" means that length of road which links the roundabout at Shooters Hill Road with the southeastbound carriageway of the main route;
      "Westbrook Road northwestbound access road" means that length of road linking the eastern end of Westbrook Road with the Shooters Hill Road northwestbound exit slip road;
      "Dover Patrol exit slip road" means that length of road which links the southeastbound carriageway of the main route with Rochester Way and Kidbrooke Way near the Dover Patrol Public House;
      "Kidbrooke Park Road link Road" means that length of road which links the Rochester Way Relief Road, approximately 350 metres south of the Rochester Way overbridge, with Kidbrooke Park Road, approximately 70 metres north east of the railway underbridge in Kidbrooke Park Road;
      "Kidbrooke junction link road" means that length of road linking the northwestbound carriageway of the main route with the southwestbound carriageway of the Kidbrooke Park Road link road;
      "Westhorne Avenue southeastbound exit slip road" means that length of road linking the southeastbound carriageway of the main route with the northeastbound carriageway of Westhorne Avenue;
      "Westhorne Avenue northwestbound access slip road" means that length of road linking the northeastbound carriageway of Westhorne Avenue with the northwestbound carriageway of the main route;
      "Westhorne Avenue southeastbound access slip road" means that length of road linking the southwestbound carriageway of Westhorne Avenue with the southeastbound carriageway of the main route;
      "Westhorne Avenue northwestbound exit slip road" means that length of road linking the northwestbound carriageway of the main route with the southwestbound carriageway of Westhorne Avenue;
      "Westhorne Avenue junction southeastbound link road" means that length of road linking the junction of the Westhorne Avenue southeastbound exit slip road and the northeastbound carriageway of Westhorne Avenue with the junction of the Westhorne Avenue southeastbound access slip road and the southwestbound carriageway of Westhorne Avenue;
      "Westhorne Avenue junction northwestbound link road" means that length of road linking the junction of the Westhorne Avenue northwestbound exit slip road and the southwestbound carriageway of Westhorne Avenue with the junction of the Westhorne Avenue northwestbound access slip road and the northeastbound carriageway of Westhorne Avenue;
      "Westmount Road access slip road" means that length of road linking Westmount Road with the eastbound carriageway of the main route;
      "Riefield Road access slip road" means that length of road which links the junction of Riefield Road and Rochester Way with the eastbound carriageway of the main route; and
      "Riefield Road exit slip road" means that length of road which links the westbound carriageway of the main route with Riefield Road.


        (2)  All measurements of distance are along the route of the relevant highway.
        3.    No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 50 miles per hour on any of the lengths of road specified in Schedule 1 to this Order.
        4.    The lengths of road specified in Schedule 2 to this Order shall be restricted roads for the purposes of section 81 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
