The Parliamentary Constituencies (England) (Miscellaneous Changes) (No. 3) Order 1987

Made 18th December 1987
Coming into force in accordance with Article 1(3)

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

    Whereas in pursuance of section 3(3) of the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 1986[1] the Boundary Commission for England have submitted to the Secretary of State a report dated 28th April 1987 with respect to the areas comprised in certain constituencies in England and showing the constituencies into which they recommend, in accordance with the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 1986, that the areas should be divided:
    And whereas the Secretary of State has laid that report before Parliament together with the draft of this Order in Council to give effect to the recommendations contained in the report and each House of Parliament has by resolution approved the said draft:
    Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in pursuance of section 4 of the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 1986, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—
    Citation, interpretation and commencement
        1.—(1)  This Order may be cited as the Parliamentary Constituencies (England) (Miscellaneous Changes) (No. 3) Order 1987.

        (2)  In this Order "the 1983 Order" means the Parliamentary Constituencies (England) Order 1983[2].

        (3)  Subject to section 4(6) of the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 1986, this Order shall come into force forthwith.
    Amber Valley, Bolsover, Erewash, North East Derbyshire and West Derbyshire
        2.    For the county constituencies of Amber Valley, Bolsover, Erewash, North East Derbyshire and West Derbyshire as constituted by the Schedule to the 1983 Order (and described by reference to the local government areas referred to in that Order), there shall be substituted the constituencies which are named on the left-hand side of Part I of the Schedule to this Order and comprise the areas set out on the right-hand side, which areas are local government areas as they existed on 28th April 1987, (and accordingly as altered by the Derbyshire (District Boundaries) Order 1985[3], the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire (Areas) Order 1985[4], the Amber Valley (Parishes) Order 1984[5] and the North East Derbyshire (Parishes) Order 1985[6]).
    Aylesbury, Buckingham and Chesham and Amersham
        3.    For the county constituencies of Aylesbury, Buckingham and Chesham and Amersham as constituted by the Schedule to the 1983 Order (and described by reference to the local government areas referred to in that Order), there shall be substituted the constituencies which are named on the left-hand side of Part II of the Schedule to this Order, and comprise the areas set out on the right-hand side, which areas are local government areas as they existed on 28th April 1987 (and accordingly as altered by the Aylesbury Vale (Parishes) Order 1985[7] and the Chiltern (Parishes) Order 1985[8]).
    Boothferry
        4.    For the county constituency of Boothferry as constituted by the Schedule to the 1983 Order (and described by reference to the local government areas referred to in that Order), there shall be substituted the constituency which is named on the left-hand side of Part III of the Schedule to this Order, and comprises the areas set out on the right-hand side, which areas are local government areas as they existed on 28th April 1987 (and accordingly as altered by the Humberside and North Yorkshire (Areas) Order 1984[9]).
    Bosworth, Loughborough, North West Leicestershire and Rutland and Melton
        5.    For the county constituencies of Bosworth, Loughborough, North West Leicestershire and Rutland and Melton as constituted by the Schedule to the 1983 Order (and described by reference to the local government areas referred to in that Order), there shall be substituted the constituencies which are named on the left-hand side of Part IV of the Schedule to this Order and comprise the areas set out on the right-hand side, which areas are local government areas as they existed on 28th April 1987 (and accordingly as altered by the Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire (County and District Boundaries) Order 1985[10]).
    Braintree, Brentwood and Ongar, Chelmsford, Epping Forest, Harlow and North Colchester
        6.    For the county constituencies of Braintree, Brentwood and Ongar, Chelmsford, Epping Forest, Harlow and North Colchester as constituted by the Schedule to the 1983 Order (and described by reference to the local government areas referred to in that Order), there shall be substituted the constituencies which are named on the left-hand side of Part V of the Schedule to this Order, and comprise the areas set out on the right-hand side, which areas are local government areas as they existed on 28th April 1987 (and accordingly as altered by the Braintree, Chelmsford and Colchester (Areas) Order 1985[11] and the Epping Forest (Parishes) Order 1986[12], but not the Borough of Chelmsford (Electoral Arrangements) Order 1987[13]).
    Broxtowe, Newark, Nottingham East, Rushcliffe and Sherwood
        7.    For the county constituencies of Broxtowe, Newark, Rushcliffe and Sherwood and the borough constituency of Nottingham East as constituted by the Schedule to the 1983 Order (and described by reference to the local government areas referred to in that Order), there shall be substituted the constituencies which are named on the left-hand side of Part VI of the Schedule to this Order and comprise the areas set out on the right-hand side, which areas are local government areas as they existed on 28th April 1987 (and accordingly as altered by the Newark (Parishes) Order 1983[14], the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire (Areas) Order 1985[15] and the Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire (County and District Boundaries) Order 1985[16]).
    Burnley, Chorley, Fylde, Hyndburn, Pendle, Preston, Ribble Valley, South Ribble and West Lancashire
        8.    For the county constituencies of Chorley, Fylde, Ribble Valley, South Ribble and West Lancashire and the borough constituencies of Burnley, Hyndburn, Pendle and Preston as constituted by the Schedule to the 1983 Order (and described by reference to the local government areas referred to in that Order), there shall be substituted the constituencies which are named on the left-hand side of Part VII of the Schedule to this Order, and comprise the areas set out on the right-hand side, which areas are local government areas as they existed on 28th April 1987 (and accordingly as altered by the West Lancashire (Parishes) Order 1982[17], the Preston (Parishes) Order 1986[18] and the Lancashire (District Boundaries) Order 1986[19]).
    Canterbury, Faversham, Folkestone and Hythe, Gillingham and Mid Kent
        9.    For the county constituencies of Canterbury, Faversham, Folkestone and Hythe and Mid Kent and the borough constituency of Gillingham as constituted by the Schedule to the 1983 Order (and described by reference to the local government areas referred to in that Order), there shall be substituted the constituencies which are named on the left-hand side of Part VIII of the Schedule to this Order and comprise the areas set out on the right-hand side, which areas are local government areas as they existed on 28th April 1987 (and accordingly as altered by the Swale (Parishes) Order 1982[20], the Maidstone and Swale (Areas) Order 1983[21], and the Canterbury and Shepway (Areas) Order 1985[22]).
    Hereford, Leominster, Mid Worcestershire, South Worcestershire, Worcester and Wyre Forest
        10.    For the county constituencies of Hereford, Leominister, Mid Worcestershire, South Worcestershire and Wyre Forest and the borough constituency of Worcester as constituted by the Schedule to the 1983 Order (and described by reference to the local government areas referred to in that Order), there shall be substituted the constituencies which are named on the left-hand side of Part IX of the Schedule to this Order, and comprise the areas set out on the right-hand side, which areas are local government areas as they existed on 28th April 1987 (and accordingly as altered by the Hereford and Worcester (Areas) Order 1985[23], the Wychavon (Parishes) Order 1985[24] and the Malvern Hills (Parishes) Order 1986[25]).
    Ludlow, Shrewsbury and Atcham and The Wrekin
        11.    For the county constituencies of Ludlow and Shrewsbury and Atcham and the borough constituency of The Wrekin as constituted by the Schedule to the 1983 Order (and described by reference to the local government areas referred to in that Order), there shall be substituted the constituencies which are named on the left-hand side of Part X of the Schedule of this Order and comprise the areas set out on the right-hand side, which areas are local government areas as they existed on 28th April 1987 (and accordingly as altered by the Shropshire (District Boundaries) Order 1985[26] and the Shropshire (District Boundaries) Order 1986[27]).
    Plymouth, Devonport, South Hams and Teignbridge
        12.    For the county constituencies of South Hams and Teignbridge and the borough constituency of Plymouth, Devonport as constituted by the Schedule to the 1983 Order (and described by reference to the local government areas referred to in that Order), there shall be substituted the constituencies which are named on the left-hand side of Part XI of the Schedule to this Order, and comprise the areas set out on the right-hand side, which areas are local government areas as they existed on 28th April 1987 (and accordingly as altered by the Devon (District Boundaries) Order 1985[28] and the Mid-Devon, South Hams and Teignbridge (Areas) Order 1985[29]).
    Ryedale, Scarborough and Selby
        13.    For the county constituencies of Ryedale, Scarborough and Selby as constituted by the Schedule to the 1983 Order (and described by reference to the local government areas referred to in that Order), there shall be substituted the constituencies which are named on the left-hand side of Part XII of the Schedule to this Order, and comprise the areas set out on the right-hand side, which areas are local government areas as they existed on 28th April 1987 (and accordingly as altered by the Humberside and North Yorkshire (Areas) Order 1984[30] and the Scarborough (Parishes) Order 1984[31]).
    Register of electors
        14.    Each electoral registration officer for the constituencies referred to in Articles 2 to 13 above shall make such re-arrangement or adaptation of the registers of parliamentary electors as may be necessary to give effect to this Order.
