A423 West of Maidenhead—Oxford Trunk Road (Burchetts Green to A4142 Heyford Hill Roundabout) Detrunking Order 1987

Made 22nd October 1987
Coming into force 20th November 1987

    The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980[1] , and now vested in him[2] , and of all other enabling powers:
        1.    The lengths of the Trunk Road described in the Schedule to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be trunk road and shall be classified as principal road as from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the County Councils of Berkshire and Oxfordshire that the section of the A404 road between Burchetts Green and the M40 motorway has become a trunk road.
        2.    In this Order—
      (i) "the deposited plan"
    means the plan numbered CSE 242/2/26/06 and marked "A423 West of Maidenhead—Oxford Trunk Road (Burchetts Green to A4142 Heyford Hill Roundabout) Detrunking Order 1987" signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43, Marsham Street, London, SW1P 3PY;
      (ii) "principal road"
    as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State;
      (iii) "the Trunk Road"
    means the West of Maidenhead—Oxford Trunk Road (A423).
        3.    In this Order all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the Trunk Road.
        4.    This Order shall come into force on 20th November 1987 and may be cited as the A423 West of Maidenhead—Oxford Trunk Road (Burchetts Green to A4142 Heyford Hill Roundabout) Detrunking Order 1987.
