CUSTOMS AND EXCISE

The Export of Goods (Control) (Amendment No. 10) Order 1987

Made 24th July 1987
Coming into force 17th August 1987

    The Secretary of State, in exercise of powers conferred by section 1 of the Import, Export and Customs Powers (Defence) Act 1939[1] and now vested in him[2] , and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Export of Goods (Control) (Amendment No. 10) Order 1987 and shall come into force on 17th August 1987.
        2.    The Export of Goods (Control) Order 1985[3] shall be further amended as follows:
       (a) After Article 2(xi) there shall be added the following:
          "(xii) scheduled goods indicated by the letter "L" are prohibited to be exported to any destination in Libya;
          (xiii) scheduled goods indicated by the letter "Z" are prohibited to be exported to any destination in South Africa or Namibia" ;
       (b) in Group 3E of Part II of Schedule 1, in entry IL1460 (Aircraft and helicopters, aircraft engines and aircraft and helicopter equipment), after head (1A), there shall be added the following:
        "  (1B)  Aircraft and helicopters having a maximum all up weight of 680 kg or more ..........L, Z" ;
       (c) in Group 3H of Part II of Schedule 1, for the entry relating to Aluminium alloys, there shall be substituted the following entry:
        "Aluminium alloys, in which zinc predominates by weight over any other single alloying element, in the following forms: tubes, rods, forgings, bars and billets ..........A" .

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order further amends the Export of Goods (Control) Order 1985.
    Export Control is:
      (a) introduced on aircraft and helicopters to any destination in Libya, South Africa or Namibia;
      (b) relaxed on high strength aluminium alloys.
