TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

The Job Release Act 1977 (Continuation) Order 1987

Made 28th July 1987
Coming into force 30th September 1987

    The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 1(4)(b) of the Job Release Act 1977[1] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order, a draft of which was laid before the House of Commons and approved by resolution of that House in accordance with section 1(5) of the Job Release Act 1977:-
    Citation and commencement
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Job Release Act 1977 (Continuation) Order 1987 and shall come into force on 30th September 1987.
    Continuation
        2.    Section 1 of the Job Release Act 1977 shall continue in force until the expiration of the period ending with 29th September 1988.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order continues in force until 29th September 1988 section 1 of the Job Release Act 1977 which would otherwise have ceased to have effect on 29th September 1987, the section having been continued in force until that date by the Job Release Act 1977 (Continuation) Order 1986 (S.I. 1986/1291).
    Section 1 of the Job Release Act 1977 provides financial authorisation for any sums required by the Secretary of State or the Department of Economic Development, Northern Ireland, in paying temporary allowances to persons approaching pensionable age, under schemes made and implemented with a view to creating job vacancies and otherwise mitigating the effects of high unemployment.
