CHILDREN AND YOUNG PERSONS

The Children Act 1975 and the Adoption Act 1976 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1987

Made 16th July 1987

    The Secretary of State for Social Services, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 108(2) of the Children Act 1975[1] and section 74(2) of the Adoption Act 1976[2] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf hereby makes the following Order:
    Citation and interpretation
        1.—(1)  This Order may be cited as the Children Act 1975 and the Adoption Act 1976 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1987.

        (2)  In this Order—
      "the 1975 Act" means the Children Act 1975;
      "the 1976 Act" means the Adoption Act 1976.

    Day appointed for the coming into force of certain provisions of the 1975 Act and the 1976 Act
        2.—(1)  The provisions of the 1975 Act specified in the first column of Schedule 1 to this Order (which relate to the matters specified in the second column thereof) shall come into force on 1st January 1988.

        (2)  The provisions of the 1976 Act specified in the first column of Schedule 2 to this Order and the appendix to that Schedule (which relate to the matters specified in the second column thereof) shall come into force immediately after the provisions specified in paragraph (1) of this article on 1st January 1988.
