PILOTAGE

The Sullom Voe, Shetland, Pilotage (Amendment) Order 1987

Made 11th May 1987
Laid before Parliament 13th May 1987
Coming into force 3rd June 1987

    The Secretary of State for Transport on the application of the Shetland Islands Council (being a person interested in the Sullom Voe, Shetland, Pilotage District) and in exercise of powers conferred by section 9 of the Pilotage Act 1983[1] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:—
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Sullom Voe, Shetland, Pilotage (Amendment) Order 1987 and shall come into force on 3rd June 1987.
        2.    The Sullom Voe, Shetland, Pilotage Order 1976[2] shall be amended as follows:—

        (1)  for article 3 thereof there shall be substituted the following:—
            "3.    There shall be established a pilotage district to be known as the Sullom Voe, Shetland, Pilotage District consisting of two parts, the limits of which shall be, respectively:—


        First Part:—The Waters of Yell Sound and Sullom Voe, including all the creeks, voes and inlets bounded on the North by a line drawn from the Northern extremity of the Point of Fethaland (latitude 60 degs 38.30' N longitude 01 degs 18.40' W) to the North Western extremity of the Point at Fogla Lee (latitude 60 degs 38.20' N longitude 01 degs 11.10' W) and in the South East by a line drawn from the North Western extremity of the Ness of Sound (latitude 60 degs 31.59' N longitude 01 degs 11.12' W) to the Northern extremity of Uynarey Isle (latitude 60 degs 30.92' N longitude 01 degs 11.87' W) and thence to the Northern extremity of Mio Ness (latitude 60 degs 29.74' N longitude 01 degs 13.60' W).


        Second Part:—The Waters of Yell Sound including all the creeks, voes and inlets bounded in the North West by a line drawn from the North Western extremity of the Ness of Sound (latitude 60 degs 31.59' N longitude 01 degs 11.12' W) to the Northern extremity of Uynarey Isle (latitude 60 degs 30.92' N longitude 01 degs 11.87' W) and thence to the Northern extremity of Mio Ness, (latitude 60 degs 29.74' N longitude 01 degs 13.60' W) and in the East by a line drawn from the Northern extremity of the Point of Feorwick on Lunna Ness (latitude 60 degs 26.78' N longitude 01 deg 04.14' W) to the Northern extremity of Lunna Holm (latitude 60 degs 27.43' N longitude 01 deg 02.40' W) thence in a Northerly direction to the Southern extremity of Heoga Ness (latitude 60 degs 29.43' N longitude 01 deg 02.40' W)" .


        (2)  For article 5 there shall be substituted the following:—
            "5.    Pilotage shall be compulsory within the first part of the pilotage district." .

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order amends the Sullom Voe, Shetland, Pilotage Order 1976. It extends the area of the pilotage district and provides that pilotage is compulsory only in the original part of the district.
    This Order is made in consequence of an application by the Shetlands Island Council as pilotage authority for the Sullom Voe, Shetland, Pilotage District. No objection to the application has been made in accordance with the Pilotage Orders (Applications) Regulations 1980 (S.I. 1980/1163).
