REPRESENTATION OF THE PEOPLE

The Local Elections (Principal Areas) (Welsh Forms) Order 1987

Made 27th March 1987
Laid before Parliament 2nd April 1987
Coming into force 6th April 1987

    In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 2(1) of the Welsh Language Act 1967[1], I hereby make the following Order:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Local Elections (Principal Areas) (Welsh Forms) Order 1987 and shall come into force on 6th April 1987.
        2.    Each of the forms set out in Part I of the Schedule to this Order is hereby prescribed as the Welsh version of the corresponding form specified in English at the head of the version, being a form set out in Schedule 2 to the Local Elections (Principal Areas) Rules 1986[2], which may be used in connection with the election of a county or district councillor in Wales.
        3.    The form set out in Part II of the Schedule to this Order is hereby prescribed as the Welsh version which may be used by the chairman, vice-chairman or councillor of the council of a county or district in Wales, in place of the declaration of acceptance of office set out in Schedule 5 to the Local Elections (Principal Areas) Rules 1986.
        4.    Each of the forms set out in Part III of the Schedule to this Order is hereby prescribed as the version partly in Welsh and partly in English which shall be used, in connection with the election of a county or district councillor in Wales, in place of the official poll cards or voting compartment notice set out in Schedule 2 to the Local Elections (Principal Areas) Rules 1986.
        5.    The forms set out in the Schedule to this Order may be used with such modifications as circumstances require.
