CUSTOMS AND EXCISE

The Export of Goods (Control) (Amendment No. 9) Order 1987

Made 16th February 1987
Coming into force 10th March 1987

    The Secretary of State, in exercise of powers conferred by section 1 of the Import, Export and Customs Powers (Defence) Act 1939[1] and now vested in him[2] , and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
        1.    This Order may be cited as the Export of Goods (Control) (Amendment No. 9) Order 1987 and shall come into force on 10th March 1987.
        2.    The Export of Goods (Control) Order 1985[3] shall be further amended as follows:
       (a) in Group 3E of Part II of Schedule 1 —
         (i) in entry IL1416 (Ships, surface-effect vehicles, water-screw propellers, and specially designed components), for head (5B) there shall be substituted the following:
          "  (5B)  Ships having special structural features for landing personnel and/or vehicles on a beach..........I"
         (ii) in the same entry, after head (5C), there shall be inserted the following additional heads:
          "  (5D)  Ships capable of supporting helicopter operations and maintenance..........I

              (5E)  Ships capable of submerging..........I

              (5F)  Ships not elsewhere specified in this Part of this Schedule of below 100 tons GRT, including inflatable craft in an inflated or uninflated state, except lightvessels, fire floats and dredgers..........I" ;
         (iii) in head (6) of the same entry, for "(1) to (5C)" , there shall be substituted "(1) to (5F)" ;
       (b) in Group 3I of Part II of Schedule 1, in the entry Chemicals —
         (i) after head (7), there shall be inserted the following additional head:
          "  (7A)  Phosphorus trichloride..........A" ;
         (ii) after head (9), there shall be inserted the following additional head:
          "  (10)  Trimethylphosphite..........A" .

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)
    This Order further amends the Export of Goods (Control) Order 1985.
    Export control is:
      (a) extended on certain small boats to any destination in Iran or Iraq, and relaxed for certain larger ones;
      (b) introduced on phosphorus trichloride and trimethylphosphite.
