AGRICULTURAL WAGES

The National Assembly for Wales, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(1) of the Agricultural Wages Act 1948(1), makes the following Order:
1. The title of this Order is the Agricultural Wages Committee (Wales) Order 2007, it comes into force on 1 March 2007 and applies in relation to Wales.
2. The Agricultural Wages Committees (Areas) Order 1974(2) is amended as follows:
(a) in Article 3(1) replace the word “Wales” with the words “an agricultural wages committee for the combination of all the counties in Wales”;
(b) in Part I of the Schedule, delete the words “Counties in Wales Clwyd Dyfed Gwent Gwynedd Powys”; and
(c) in Part II of the Schedule, delete the words “Counties in Wales Mid Glamorgan, South Glamorgan and West Glamorgan”.

This Order establishes one agricultural wages committee for the combination of all the counties in Wales by making the necessary amendments to the Agricultural Wages Committees (Areas) Order 1974.
1948 c. 47. Section 2(1) of the 1948 Act was amended by section 149 of the Government of Wales Act 1998 (c. 38). By virtue of article 2(a) of, and Schedule 1 to, the National Assembly for Wales (Transfer of Functions) Order 1999 (S.I. 1999/672) the functions exercisable under section 2(1) of the 1948 Act were transferred to the National Assembly for Wales in so far as exercisable in relation to Wales.
