The National Assembly for Wales makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred upon it by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980[1] and of all other enabling powers[2]:- 1. The new highway which the National Assembly for Wales proposes to construct along the route described in Schedule 1 to this Order is to become a trunk road as from the date when this Order comes into force. 2. The centre line of the new trunk road is indicated by a heavy black line on the deposited plan. 3. The length of trunk road described in Schedule 2 to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan is to cease to be trunk road, and is to be classified as a classified road, as from the date on which the National Assembly for Wales notifies the County Council of Powys that the new trunk road is open for through traffic. 4. In this Order : - (1) All measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway; (2) "the trunk road" ("y gefnffordd") means the London - Fishguard Trunk Road (A40);

This Order comes into force on 19th February 2004 and may be cited as the London - Fishguard Trunk Road (A40) (Heol Draw Improvement) Order 2004. The route of the new trunk road is a route between Bwlch and Crickhowell in the vicinity of the property known as Heol Draw Cottage, near Tretower in the County of Powys about 0.80 kilometres in length starting at a point on the existing trunk road about 200 metres north west of the end of the wall on the south east side of the access to the property known as Dan-y Myarth then going in a southeasterly direction to a point on the existing trunk road coincident with the centreline of the access to field No. 8248 opposite the access to the Gliffaes Hotel. The length of trunk road ceasing to be trunk road is that length of the trunk road situated between a point about 13 metres from the start of the wall/gate on the south east side of the property known as Heol Draw Cottage, near Tretower, to a point on the existing trunk road 26 metres from the start of the wall/gate on the south east side of the property known as Heol Draw Cottage, near Tretower.
