The National Assembly for Wales, being designated[1] for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972[2] in relation to the common agricultural policy of the European Community, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by the said section 2(2) and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, makes the following Regulations: Title, application and commencement 1. These Regulations are called the Products of Animal Origin (Import and Export) (Amendment) (Wales) Regulations 2001; they apply in relation to Wales and come into force at 7.30 p.m. on 2nd May 2001. Amendment of the Products of Animal Origin (Import and Export) Regulations 1996 2. - (1) The Products of Animal Origin (Import and Export) Regulations 1996[3] in so far as they apply in relation to Wales are amended in accordance with the following paragraphs of this regulation. (2) For regulation 16(3) there shall be substituted the following provision -

(This note is not part of the Regulations) These Regulations, which apply in relation to Wales, amend the Products of Animal Origin (Import and Export) Regulations 1996 (S.I. 1996/1324, as amended) so as to extend the powers of authorised officers as regards products of animal origin which have been imported from third countries otherwise than in accordance with animal or public health conditions.
