The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 19(3) of the Farriers (Registration) Act 1975[1], hereby make the following Order: Title and extent 1. —(1) This Order may be cited as the Farriers (Registration) Act 1975 (Commencement No. 4) (Scotland) Order 2006. (2) This Order extends to Scotland only. Commencement of section 16 of the Farriers (Registration) Act 1975 2. Section 16 of the Farriers (Registration) Act 1975[2] shall come into force on 30th March 2007 in those areas of Scotland excepted from the bringing into force of section 16 by the Farriers (Registration) Act 1975 (Commencement No. 3) Order 1981[3]. ROSS FINNIE A member of the Scottish Executive St Andrew's House, Edinburgh 4th December 2006 (This note is not part of the Order) This Order brings section 16 of the Farriers (Registration) Act 1975 into force in a number of areas of Scotland with effect from 30th March 2007. Section 16 provides that it is an offence for any person who is not registered to carry out farriery. (This note is not part of the Order) The Farriers (Registration) Act 1975, with the exception of section 16, came into force throughout Great Britain on 1st January 1976 (S.I. 1975/2018). Section 16 was brought into force in Scotland on 8th May 1981 (S.I. 1981/767), except in Highland Region, Western Isles Islands Area, Orkney Islands Area, Shetland Islands Area and all other islands of Scotland. In England and Wales, section 16 was brought into force on lst June 1979 (S.I. 1978/1928). Notes: [1] 1975 c.35.
