The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 61(2), (3) and (4) of the Standards in Scotland's Schools etc. Act 2000[1], hereby make the following Order: Citation and Interpretation 1. —(1) This Order may be cited as the Standards in Scotland's Schools etc. Act 2000 (Commencement No. 8 and Savings) Order 2006. (2) In this Order "the 1965 Act" means the Teaching Council (Scotland) Act 1965[2]. Appointed day 2. 1st July 2006 is the day appointed for the coming into force of the following provisions of the Standards in Scotland's Schools etc. Act 2000:–
(b) section 50 (Professional Conduct Committee and Investigating and Disciplinary Sub-committees) for the purpose of the insertion, into the 1965 Act, of—
(ii) section 11A(1) and (2).
Savings
(b) the Disciplinary Sub-committee shall not make a direction under section 11(1)(ii) or (iii) of the 1965 Act.
(This note is not part of the Order) Article 2(a) brings into force the remaining provisions of section 49 of the Standards in Scotland's Schools etc Act 2000 which inserts section 9B(a)(ii) and (c) into the Teaching Council (Scotland) Act 1965. Article 2(b) brings into force further provisions of section 50 of the 2000 Act which inserts section 11(1) (ii) and (iii), (2) to (7) and, in so far as not already in force, (9) and, section 11A(1) and (2) into the 1965 Act. Article 3 makes savings provisions. The article provides that the relevant sub-committees of General Teaching Council for Scotland shall not make directions under the powers commenced in this Order in respect of a notification under section 9B of the 1965 Act which is received by the Council before 1st July 2006.
