The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 4(1) and 36(2) of the Water Environment and Water Services (Scotland) Act 2003[1], and all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Order, a draft of which has, in accordance with section 36(6) of that Act, been laid before and approved by resolution of the Scottish Parliament: Citation, commencement and interpretation 1. - (1) This Order may be cited as the Water Environment and Water Services (Scotland) Act 2003 (Designation of Scotland River Basin District) Order 2003 and shall come into force on 22nd December 2003. (2) In this Order "the Act" means the Water Environment and Water Services (Scotland) Act 2003. Scotland River Basin District 2. - (1) The river basin district described in paragraph (2) is hereby designated a river basin district for the purposes of Part I of the Act. (2) The river basin district referred to in paragraph (1) is the area identified in maps 1 to 9[2], but excluding the relevant bodies of groundwater in the areas identified in maps 10 and 11(b), which do not form part of that river basin district. (3) The maps referred to in paragraph (2) are the maps prepared for the purposes of this Order and laid before the Scottish Parliament in accordance with section 4(4) of the Act. (4) The river basin district designated under paragraph (1) shall be known as "Scotland River Basin District". ALLAN WILSON Authorised to sign on behalf of the Scottish Ministers St Andrew's House Edinburgh 18th December 2003 (This note is not part of the Order) This Order designates a river basin district as required by section 4(1) of the Water Environment and Water Services (Scotland) Act 2003. This is done by reference to maps prepared for the purposes of the Order and laid before the Scottish Parliament in accordance with section 4(4) of that Act. The maps identify the area of the river basin district, and, in accordance with sections 4(2) and (3) of that Act, show the relevant bodies of groundwater that are excluded from the river basin district. This Order also provides that the river basin district is to be known as "Scotland River Basin District". Under section 4(6) of the Act, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency is under an obligation to make copies of this Order and of the maps available at all reasonable times for public inspection free of charge. This Order and the maps will also be published by the Scottish Ministers and will be available on their website at: www.scotland.gov.uk.
