The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3(6) of the Terrorism Act 2000[1]. In accordance with section 3(6)(a) of that Act, the Secretary of State believes that the organisation referred to in article 2(1) of the following Order, being an organisation listed in Schedule 2 to that Act, is operating wholly or partly under names that are not specified in that Schedule (whether as well as or instead of under the specified name). 1. This Order may be cited as the Proscribed Organisations (Name Changes) Order 2006 and shall come into force on 14th August 2006. 2. —(1) Each of the names specified in paragraph (2), being names that are not specified in Schedule 2 to the Terrorism Act 2000, is to be treated as another name for the Kurdistan Workers' Party (Partiya Karkeren Kurdistan) (PKK), being an organisation listed in that Schedule[2]. (2) Those names are—
(b) KADEK.
(This note is not part of the Order) Part 2 of the Terrorism Act 2000 makes provision about proscribed organisations (including the offences in respect of such organisations set out in sections 11 to 13). An organisation is proscribed if it is listed in Schedule 2 to that Act or operates under the same name as an organisation so listed (section 3(1)). Section 3(6) of that Act (as inserted by section 22(2) of the Terrorism Act 2006) enables an order to provide that a name that is not specified in Schedule 2 to that Act is to be treated as another name for an organisation that is listed in that Schedule. Article 2(2) of this Order exercises this power to specify different names for the listed organisation referred to in article 2(1).
