Gaming (Amendment) Act 1987

1987 CHAPTER 11

An Act to amend section 18 of the Gaming Act 1968 with respect to the hours for gaming.

[9th April 1987]

Be it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Amendment of section 18 of the Gaming Act 1968

(1)Section 18 of the M1Gaming Act 1968 (gaming on Sundays) shall be amended as follows.

(2)For subsection (1) there shall be substituted the following—

(1)In England and Wales no gaming shall take place on any Sunday between the hours of four in the morning and two in the afternoon on any premises in respect of which a licence under this Act is for the time being in force.

(4)Subsection (3) shall be repealed.

2 Short title, commencement and extent

(1)This Act may be cited as the Gaming (Amendment) Act 1987.

(2)This Act shall come into force on such day as the Secretary of State may by order made by statutory instrument appoint.

(3)This Act does not extend to Northern Ireland.
