1985 CHAPTER 40

An Act to amend the Licensing Act 1964 in relation to orders for extended hours at premises providing entertainment and in relation to special hours certificates.

[16th July 1985]

Be it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Extended hours orders and special hours certificates: amendment of provisions as to particular days

(1)Section 70 (enabling orders for extended hours to be made with respect to premises providing entertainment) and section 76 (as to permitted hours where special hours certificate in force) of the M1Licensing Act 1964 shall be amended as follows.

(2)In subsection (2) of section 70 the words “except on Good Friday, Maundy Thursday or Easter Eve” and the words “but shall not be affected on Good Friday, and shall on Maundy Thursday and Easter Eve extend until midnight” shall be omitted.

(3)In subsection (2) of section 76 the words “other than Good Friday” and, in paragraph (a) of that subsection, the words “on Maundy Thursday and Easter Eve and” shall be omitted.

2 Short title and extent

(1)This Act may be cited as the Licensing (Amendment) Act 1985.

(2)This Act does not extend to Scotland or Northern Ireland.
