An Act to enable grants under section 64 of the Agriculture Act 1967 towards fulfilling guarantees of bank loans to be made in relation to a wider range of co-operative marketing businesses; and to extend the powers of obtaining information conferred by subsection (1) of section 1 of the Agricultural Statistics Act 1979 and to repeal subsection (5) of that section.

Be it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
(1)In section 64 of the M1Agriculture Act 1967 (grants towards fulfilling guarantees of bank loans to agriculture or horticulture businesses), after subsection (8) there shall be inserted the following subsection:—
“(8A)For the purposes of the definitions in subsection (8) above of “co-operative marketing business” and “co-operative association”, the members of a co-operative association shall be deemed to include the members of any other co-operative association which—
(a)is a member of the first mentioned association, or
(b)is deemed to be such a member by virtue of paragraph (a) above or this paragraph”.
(2)This section extends to Northern Ireland.
(1)In subsection (1) of section 1 of the M1Agricultural Statistics Act 1979, for paragraphs (b) and (c) (power to require information relating to the names and addresses of owners and occupiers and to whether land is let and, if so, at what rent) there shall be substituted the following paragraph:—
“(b)any person who is an owner or occupier of the land or any part of it and the terms on which, and arrangements under which, the land or any part of it is owned, occupied, managed or farmed by any person;”.
(2)Subsection (5) of the said section 1 (application of provisions as to entry and inspection) is hereby repealed.
(3)This section extends to England and Wales only.
(1)This Act may be cited as the Agriculture (Amendment) Act 1984.
(2)This Act shall come into force at the end of the period of two months beginning with the day on which it is passed.
