An Act to amend the Pet Animals Act 1951 regulating the sale of pet animals.
[9th May 1983]
Be it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
The M1Pet Animals Act 1951 shall be amended as follows:—
(a)in section 2 (Pets not to be sold in streets, etc.), there shall be substituted for the word “except” the word “or”;
(b)in subsection (3) of section 7 (Interpretation) there shall be omitted the words
““premises” includes any stall or barrow in a market, but save as aforesaid does not include any stall or barrow or any part of a street or public place”.
(1)This Act may be cited as the Pet Animals Act 1951 (Amendment) Act 1982.
(2)This Act shall come into operation at the end of a period of six months beginning with the day on which it is passed.
(3)This Act does not apply to Northern Ireland.
